    Italy’s contribution to the fashion industry cannot be ignored. Italy’s highly skilled designers, the fashion houses, the broad ancestry of Italian brands and their high-end labels have contributed a lot in shaping the style today in the 21st Century.

    It is probable that dozens of essentials of our style of dress that are influenced by the Italian fashion houses one way or another. We may know their names but not familiar with their iconic designs & history. Keeping that in mind, here’s a comprehensive list of famous Italian brands.

    • Prada

    An Italian luxury fashion house, specializing in leather handbags, travel accessories, shoes, fashion wear, perfumes and other fashion accessories. Headquartered in Milan, Prada Hong Kong customer service team is available in HK retail outlets. (Customer Service: 877-485-6144)

    Established by Mario Prada 1913 as a leather goods shop, this brand became an official supplier to the Italian royal household in 1919. They signified their products by an iconic knotted rope that framed the label’s logo. In 1970, under the ownership of Miuccia Prada, this fashion house entered a new phase. Over the next four decades, Prada concreted its brand as a symbol of timeless, effortless chic, personified by understated branding and minimalist designs.

    • Dolce & Gabbana

    This iconic brand, headquartered also in Milan, was founded by Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana in 1985. This brand creates fashion wear, eye wear, watches, perfumes and a cosmetics line. From runway shows to adverting campaigns to celebrity endorsements, this brand has done it the all to prove themselves in the market. Their style is described as a truly home-grown with the Mediterranean touch that captures the fantasies & fantasies along with the realities of Italian luxury.

    With hundreds of stores across the world, this brand has its presence in the online stores also. Bloomberg valued this privately-held label currently at $5.3 billion.

    • Versace

    Gianni Versace founded this luxurious label in 1978. This Italian brand captures everything anyone can imagine about luxury. This is a brand that not only looks expensive but also feels expensive. Now completing its fortieth year, Versace is known for its bold patterns and vibrant graphic designs in bright colours.

    This brand is majority-owned by the original family, now run by Donatella Versace after Gianni Versace’s murder in 1997. As of 2015-16, this brand is worth of EU€645 million.

    • Gucci

    An Italian luxury brand that deals in fashion & leather goods was founded by Guccio Gucci in Florence in 1921. Their head office is located in Florence, Italy with over 550 branches all over the world. Started as locally made classic styling leather goods, the business was expanded to Milan & Rome. By 1953, the business was further expanded to New York City. In 1964 they introduced the famous double-G logo for belt buckles and other accessory decorations.

    Their widespread line of products has always attracted fashionistas all over the world. Today Gucci is considered as one of the most expensive, respected & aristocratic brands in the World. As of 2016, this brand generated revenue of US$ 4.3 billion.
