I loved following all the glamor and hype around The New York Fashion Week that took place September 4-12th. But did you know that there is a mini fashion week for kids called petitePARADE that took place on the weekend of October 5-6th? The event is put on in collaboration with Vogue Bambini Magazine and features kids on the runway modeling children’s clothing designers upcoming collections.
One cool idea that I discovered was a live blog on Dashin Fashion Kids Magazine where I was able to follow what was trending on social media around the show including Instagram and Twitter. There are adorable photos behind the scene of kids getting ready for the show in hair and makeup. And of course lots of gorgeous photos of boys and girls walking the runway in designer’s upcoming Spring Summer 2014 collections.
Some interesting highlights from the show was Heidi Klum launching her Truly Scrumptious kids collections with BabiesRUs. She posted a photo on Instagram right before the show: “Almost time for my first Truly Scrumptious fashion show! Models are getting dressed and runway is getting prepped. “
Similar to the adult fashion week, there was a celebrity fashion twist. Musician P Diddy was spotted sitting in the front row with his family at the Swarovsky fashion show. His three adorable daughters modeled Ooh La La Couture dresses on the runway show. This got lots of media attention to say the least!
Seeing that petitePARADE is a kids event, twin boy models Tristin and Tyler were MCs and introduced each runway show. The music was even played by a 9 year old DJ Kai Song!
Some of the designer brands that participated in the fashion show were Andy and Evan, Bonnie Young, Lavantine, UGG, Pale Cloud, Suoak, Oil and Water Raincoats, Baby CZ, Mischka Aoki, Ooh La La Couture and more.
There were also mini me collection by leading adult designers featured on runway shows by Junior Gaultier, Little Marc Jacobs, Milly NY, Roberto Cavalli and IKKS.

Another highlight of the event was an Alumni Fashion Show by Parsons The New School of Design where up and coming designers in the kids fashion industry.
