If you look into the history of mankind, you will find that the royal ones are mostly associated with a common precious stone. This stone is the diamond. They have mostly found their place on the royal crowns, scepter, or other objects that oozes royalty. Such stones have found an important place in the history of different civilizations.

There are several important facts that people love to know about these precious pink stones. Let us look at some of them:-

Most of these stones come from Australia

Although history speaks about the usage of pink diamonds in Indian, European, Canadian, and other civilizations, most of them come from Australia. The Argyle Mine found in West Australia is the chief source of these stones. The more astonishing fact about this mine is that only 1% of the total stones excavated from it are diamonds in pink, making them extremely rare. Therefore, if you own one of them, consider yourself to be extremely lucky.

The science behind the pink color is yet to be known

The color of most diamonds comes from the impurities present in them. Other minerals and metals mix with the stone during its manufacturing process, and these impurities impart color. However, for the pink variants, people still do not know the reason behind it. They have not found the causing mineral, although some may be present and contribute to different shades of pink. Most scientists believe that the pink color is due to the differential reflection of light inside the diamond.

    Different methods of excavation

For most stones excavated from the earth’s surface, kimberlite pipes are used. The excavators consider them to be safe and efficient for those stones. But for these pink ones, these pipes were not considered to be quite effective. Rather, the volcanic lamproite pipes are used for taking out these precious pink stones.

    They come in different shades

As stated earlier, the pink hue of these stones is due to a certain phenomenon still completely unknown to man. However, several minerals can get into these stones during the time of their processing. These minerals can impart some color of their own to the stone. As a result, the stones can look like they have different shades of pink hue. However, people still consider the pure pink stones to be the most precious amongst them all.

They are extremely difficult to polish

The crude diamonds that are generally extracted from the mines are not sold directly. They are polished properly to give them a definite shape and shine. The pink ones have proved to be more difficult to be polished. It has an extremely complicated structure, and the polishers take much more time to prepare them.

These are some of the important points that you must know about diamonds pink in color. After knowing these facts, you will understand the reason why they are considered so precious. If you want to own one, remember that your choice might hold some historical importance as well. You will belong to that rarest group of people who owns a pink diamond.
